Professional Standards
IIMH supports professional herbal medicine in Ireland through clear standards for vetting, qualifications, and clinical accountability.
Garda Vetting
To address any patient concerns about healthcare providers outside of traditional biomedical disciplines, the IIMH requires that all members undergo garda vetting.
Furthermore, this provision ensures that individuals are protected by comprehensive professional liability insurance coverage.

Qualifications
Due to the absence of academic or regulatory oversight for health care professionals outside the biomedicine sector, the IIMH verifies that all of its members mirror an M.Sc standard in herbal medicine in addition to biomedical expertise.
Health Insurance
Because of the high clinical standards established by the IIMH members, patientswho seek care from one of our members are covered by health insurance.
The IIMH is is actively seeking more private health insurance coverage for all patients.

As an IIMH member, you gain access to professional supports, insurance recognition, and resources that independent practitioners cannot access on their own.
Garda Clearance
IIMH is a nominated body. Members can apply for Garda clearance under the institute's aegis, a pathway not available to independent practitioners.
Health Insurance Reimbursement
Patients with health insurance can claim reimbursement on consultations with IIMH-registered members. Check with your provider for details.
ICTIM Library Access
Members have full access to the ICTIM library for clinical reference, research, and continuing study.
Reduced Event Fees
Members receive discounted rates on workshops, lectures, and CPD events run throughout the year.
Advanced Professional Development (CPD)
IIMH supports continuing professional development for qualified medical herbalists.
Members are encouraged to keep their clinical knowledge current through advanced training, professional learning, case-based study, and relevant developments in herbal and integrative medicine.
Request to join IIMH
IIMH welcomes applications from all qualified medical herbalists in Ireland. ICTIM graduates are accepted directly. Graduates of other colleges will be invited to complete an entrance assessment.

Training connected to IIMH standards is delivered through ICTIM, the Irish College of Traditional and Integrative Medicine.
ICTIM provides clinical training in traditional, European, and integrative herbal medicine, combining traditional medical knowledge with modern biomedical science.
